Audit & Assurance

Statutory, tax and internal audits conducted to standard, with findings you can act on.

What this covers

An audit that produces only a signed report has done half its job. Alongside the statutory opinion we issue a management letter setting out control weaknesses, reconciliation gaps and process risks in terms the business can actually act on.

Statutory audits are conducted in accordance with the Standards on Auditing, and tax audits under section 44AB are reported in Form 3CA or 3CB together with the Form 3CD particulars.

Audit independence is taken seriously: where we act as auditor, we do not also maintain the books, and we will say so plainly rather than structure around it.

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Planning and risk assessment

Scope, materiality and risk areas agreed up front so the fieldwork targets what actually matters.

  2. 02

    Fieldwork

Substantive testing and controls review, with document requests batched rather than dripped out over weeks.

  3. 03

    Findings discussion

Draft observations discussed with management before the report is finalised — no surprises at signing.

  4. 04

    Report and management letter

The signed audit report, plus a separate letter setting out control and process recommendations.

Common questions

When does a tax audit under section 44AB become applicable?
Applicability turns on turnover or gross receipts crossing the prescribed thresholds, which differ for business and for profession, and are relaxed where cash receipts and payments stay within a small percentage of the total. It also applies where a taxpayer declares profits below the presumptive rate while exceeding the basic exemption limit.
Can the same firm do our accounting and our statutory audit?
No. Auditor independence rules prohibit the statutory auditor from maintaining the books of account of the same entity. Where we act as your auditor, bookkeeping must sit with a different firm or with your in-house team.
