Tax & Financial Advisory

Planning done before the transaction, when the tax outcome can still be changed.

What this covers

Almost all meaningful tax planning has to happen before a transaction is executed. Once a property is sold or an agreement is signed, the options narrow to reporting what happened as accurately as possible.

We advise on the decisions where the tax consequence is genuinely material — how a business is structured, how promoters draw remuneration, how a capital asset is sold and whether reinvestment relief is available, and how residency status affects an NRI's Indian tax exposure.

The advice is legitimate planning within the statute. We do not structure around disclosure obligations, and we will tell you when a proposed arrangement is unlikely to survive scrutiny.

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Position review

We start from your actual position — returns, holdings, entity structure — rather than from a generic checklist.

  2. 02

    Options and quantification

Realistic alternatives set out with the tax cost of each quantified, so the trade-off is visible.

  3. 03

    Written advice

A written note recording the recommendation and the provisions it rests on, so the position is documented if it is later questioned.

  4. 04

    Execution support

Support through the transaction and the reporting that follows, including representation if the position is examined.

Common questions

When should I involve you in a property sale?
Before you sign the agreement to sell. Reinvestment reliefs under sections 54 and 54F depend on timelines that start running from the date of transfer, and the deposit and reinvestment windows are strict. Advice sought after registration is limited to reporting the transaction correctly.
Do you represent clients in scrutiny assessments and appeals?
Yes. We handle faceless assessment responses, rectification applications and appeals before the Commissioner (Appeals), including cases where the original return was filed by someone else.
